Northampton LAMs - SUMMER OUTING 2017

On the Wednesday, 19th July 2017, a group of about 30 Members visited Delapre Abbey in Northampton for our Annual Summer Outing.  The Abbey was not open to the public when we visited, but private group bookings were being taken.  We were one of the first cohort of visitors to view the restoration work (costing around £6.3 million) that had been undertaken to restore the Abbey in readiness for its new role as a heritage venue.  We learned a great deal about the history of the Abbey from excellent tour guides.  Our visit culminated in us being served Afternoon Tea (and it was splendid) in the beautiful Billiard Room.  Everyone agreed we should visit again in the future.  A great experience overall and on our doorstep.  How easy is that!  Here we are at Delapre enjoying our afternoon tea:
